Welcome Basketball Coaches, Players, and Parents,
We have put together the BEST YOUTH BASKETBALL EVENT anywhere… We have the Team, Family and Destination in mind. Each Basketball Division is Limited to 8-Teams. Each Team will play 6 Games. Each Team plays 3 pool games seeding into the Championship Bracket. Each Team will play in a CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ON CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY, against another team of their ability. We have scheduled your competition in advance, so every team can see their schedule before. This way you have time to enjoy (THE WORLDS MOST FAMOUS BEACH) as well as (World’s Most Famous THE DISNEY ATTRACTIONS). Truly a FAMILY FUN SPORTS VACATION. The Host Hotel is Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, 100 North Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32118. This is where most activities occur including team and player registration. CONTEST RULES
Obstacle Course-Timed; Top two times compete in the finals (same age division);
Contestant needs a teammate for help with the passing.
Contestant needs a teammate for help with the passing.
- Start on right side of the court at the 10 second line out of bounds
- Speed dribble to the base line
- Dribble through the cones
- Make a free throw
- Take ball out of bounds under baseline; pass to teammate (who is at free throw line extended on the other side of the floor--right side)
- Run parallel to sideline with teammate as contestant and teammate exchange 3 more passes
- On the 4th pass the contestant receives, he/she crossover dribbles under the rail until through rail
- After crossover dribbling, contestant dribbles in for a layup
- After layup, contestant then needs get the ball and make a free throw to complete the obstacle course
- Top two times compete in the finals. Best of two times in the finals, wins.
Each team shall select one player for each contest. Each Coach is free to choose his own competition selection process. We suggest that hold your own contest to get your champions to come compete against other champions from other teams. MUST have a different player for each contest.
- Free Throw Rules: Each Player will take three warm up shots. Contest will be the Best of 10 free throws. Tie breaker will be best of 5 free throws followed by Best of 3 free throws (if necessary) until two winners are established. Players must start and end the shots behind the free throw line. After two finalists are found, they will go head to head in the finals using the same format.
- 3 Point Contest Rules: Each player will choose 2 re-bounders from his team to speed up the competition. Each player will be given three warm up shots from any spot. Contest will be the most shots made within a 60 second timed period. Both players will compete at the same time. Tie breaker will be the most shots made during a 30 second timed period. If additional tie breakers are required, each period will be for 15 seconds each. Players must start their shot and release the ball behind the 3 – Point Line. This process narrow down to two finalists. Then they will go head to head against each other in the same format.
- Obstacle Course Rules: Each player will have one turn for the Obstacle Course. The top two times will determine the two finalists which will compete head to head in the finals.
2018 GAME FORMAT
2018 GAME FORMAT (NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL rules will apply except for the differences listed below.)
1. Game Timing: Two 20‐minute halves. Two minute half time and two minute warm-up time. Teams need to be ready to play. Please arrive early to start on time. Although we want to play games, game time is forfeit time. Only the Tournament Director may allow additional starting time when extenuating circumstances arise to prevent a forfeiture. Only the tournament director has the option to change the time for warm ups and half time to get games caught up.
2. Overtime: There will be one 1‐minute overtime in all games ending in a tie with each team receiving one time out for the overtime (teams may not carry‐over any timeouts). The clock will stop for all dead ball situations during overtime.
3. Double Overtime: Games will be decided by sudden death, meaning the team who scores the first point (does not have to be a basket, it can be a free throw) will have won the game. Again, teams will be awarded one time out with no carry‐overs.
4. Fouls: Each player is allowed 5, shooting one and one on the 7th team foul and two shots (double bonus) on the 10th team foul. Technical Fouls/Intentional Fouls/Flagrant Fouls: will not be shot, 2 points will be awarded to the other team along with possession of the ball. Any individual given a second technical foul will be removed from the gym. That individual will receive a one game suspension for their next scheduled game.
5. Time‐Outs: Each team has two, 30‐second time‐outs per half, with no carry‐overs. Overtime Time‐Outs: Each team is given one time out for every overtime, no carry‐overs.
6. Restrictions: All defenses and offenses are allowed. However, coaches need to pull their full court or half court press if ahead by 20 points or more. All trapping defenses are considered a press, either half court or full court.
7. Timekeepers and Scorekeepers: Each team will be required to provide one per game. Home team keeps the official book at the designated location, and the visiting team operates the clock/scoreboard. Please plan as children are not encouraged to handle either of these responsibilities.
8. Game Ball: The home team provides the game ball. Boy’s 10u, 11u, 12u use the 28.5 ball. All Girl’s teams use the 28.5 ball, too. All others use regulation size ball. Game officials may opt to select a different game ball.
9. Uniforms: Similar jersey tops or Tee Shirts with a minimum of a 6‐inch number on the back. Reversible jerseys are preferred and each team should be prepared to play with light or dark uniforms. Matching shorts are not required, but encouraged.
10. All photographs, videos, and digital images taken at any Elite 8 National event by Elite 8 National personnel or their assigners are the property of Elite 8 National and can be used for any promotional or marketing purposes of the Elite 8 National.
